Congratulations to one of Bass Pro Shops’ very own Pros, Brenda Valentine, who was recently honored for her work at the 2013 Professional Outdoor Media Association Pinnacle Awards.
The Pinnacle Awards honor journalistic excellence for outstanding work in traditional outdoor sports-focused communications, including writing, photography and broadcasting, as well as wildlife conservation content, according to POMA.
“What an honor to receive the Professional Outdoor Media Association Pinnacle Award in the Newspaper/Web category at the recent POMA Conference in Columbia, S.C.,” Valentine said.
Valentine, a long-time member of the Bass Pro Shop's National RedHead Pro Hunting Team, received the honor for her work on her blog on NWTF.org, called “Brenda Valentine’s Outdoor Legends Tour Diary.”
In her online diary, Valentine details her experiences traveling to military bases in Germany and Southwest Asia in late summer of 2012, as part of a tour to personally thank our troops for their service.
Valentine notes in one post, “This experience was life changing in many ways, but the change it brought about to me, as a hunter, was a sense of renewed pride. One of the most poignant statements I heard in Afghanistan that continues to reverberate in my head was, ‘The anti-hunters sure haven’t sent anybody over here to see us and make us feel appreciated.’
“These words alone should make every hunter stand a little taller when they see an American flag. I know I do.”
