Can you hear it?

The distant music building up unto a thunderous roar. The Rocky theme song as the champ approaches. In this case, it is not a fictitious pugilist portrayed by Sylvester Stallone. Nope. It's Mercury pro and former Bassmaster Classic champ Chris Lane stepping up to the challenge of the now legendary 1Source Five Questions. getimage article show.aspx

1Source - What is the best thing about being a pro angler?

CL - It is having a positive impact on kids. I am in the Scholastic best of sports 2013 book. It is so cool to be able to be in something like that and know that competitive bass fishing is considered a true sport by people outside of the profession. Kids come up to me and ask for autographs at events. It is so satisfying being part of something so positive and to be a positive role model for kids.

1Source - What is your favorite season?

CL - The fall. I love the spring, too, but the fall seems to get everything going in the outdoors. Whether it's taking a boat ride with my kids to look for deer along the shoreline, the changing colors of the trees, the crisp air, and hunting, fishing and golfing. It is just the best time to be completely part of the outdoors.

1Source - What is your least favorite televised sport?

CL - Any of the dog shows. Not the competitive shows where the dogs are performing skills, but the shows where they just prance around the arena. I just can't sit and watch that. It doesn't do it for me.

1Source - Do you have a favorite pet?

CL - It would have to have been my black lab Woody. He duck hunted with me. He was my companion. He was with me when I was a young man with a lot going on and changing in my life. He was always there for me then. It was so great to have him. He lived to be about 15 years old. He partied with us, me and my brothers, too. I think that may have led to him having a long life.

1Source - How would you like to be remembered?

CL - I'd like to be remembered as a person who always had a positive outlook on life. A person with a view that was always uplifting. We live in the greatest country in the world, no matter what is going on now. There are a lot of people who go through many difficulties in life. If they can keep positive, life is so much better. Whatever path in life you take, always strive for the positive. That is who I am and how I'd like to be remembered.
