Shuffield Leads AWind not an issue for Bass Mafia pro Spencer Shuffield. He leads FLW Tour field heading into Saturday at Beaver Lake.

Beaver Lake near Rogers, AR has a reputation for the bass bite slowing down when the wind doesn't blow. The wind hardly blew today. The bass bite may have slowed down for many of the anglers, but not for Phoenix Boats pro Spencer Shuffield, who took the lead heading into Saturday. Shuffield's two-day total weighed 29 pounds.

In second is reigning FLW Angler of the Year and Livingston Lures pro Andy Morgan, bringing 27 pounds, 15 ounces to the scales over the first two days. Rounding out the Top 5 are Evinrude pro Matt Arey in third with 27 pounds 6 ounces. Fourth heading into Saturday is Mercury pro Troy Morrow weighing 26 pounds 10 ounces. Fifth is held by Ranger Boats pro Micah Frazier who brought in 26 pounds 5 ounces over the first two days.

No wind, no problem for Shuffield

"I can't believe how many fish there were today without the wind," said Shuffield. "Normally, no wind means tougher fishing on Beaver Lake. I can't believe how many 3-pounders came up to look at my lures today. I can't wait to get out after them tomorrow."

Beaver not easy for Morgan

"It's been a struggle out there," said Morgan. "I did not have a good practice. I covered a lot of water out there today. I lost good fish yesterday that cost me. I had a lot better day fishing today. I'm really looking forward to getting out there tomorrow. It should be good."

Arey running a marathon

"Beaver Lake is fishing really good," said Arey. "There are lots of fish out there. I had all of my weight caught early today. "I'm doing the Beaver Lake marathon. I'm trying to catch 13 pounds each day to get to the final day. If I do that I think I can make it."

Weather forecast for Saturday is a high of 76 with mostly cloudy skies and south winds up to 25 mph.
