"You can't eat antlers."
While the old saying may ring true—unless you’re a squirrel—there's no denying that hunters are fascinated by them. Antlers adorn our homes and our offices. We make tools, toilet paper holders, and chandeliers from them. We pursue bucks that carry them and sift through the snow after they shed.
Our antler obsession is no secret, but many hunters may not know about the full annual process that bucks experience when creating these wonders of nature. Understanding this cycle can help you pattern bucks throughout the year—or at least settle some arguments at hunting camp.
