via late Pennsylvania outdoorsman was honored by his family this January with a final boat ride before being buried in his final resting place.

The casket of Ronald Bloss Sr., who passed at 78, was transported on his favorite fishing boat from Diehl Funeral Home to his burial site in Manchester Union Cemetery. One of his children towed the boat behind a pickup truck during the unique funeral procession, according to The Gazette.

“That’s what Dad really wanted,” said daughter Tina Rohrbaugh in an interview with The York Daily Record. “It was like him going fishing, going for that last ride.”

Mr. Bloss was a father and a Navy veteran. He enjoyed fishing while listening to the radio and spending time with friends, as well as hunting and spending time at his mountain cabin on Three Mile Island. In addition, he liked spending all day out on the water with his great-granddaughter, embarking on river-tubing adventures with her.

He was truly passionate about the outdoors.

Bloss’ family thought this celebration of life was appropriate, given his love of the water and his service in the U.S. Navy. Michael Gladfelter, owner of Diehl Funeral Home, agreed.

"I thought this was perfect," he told The York Daily Record in an interview.

Our condolences go out to the loved ones of Mr. Bloss. We’re moved by such a fitting celebration of life for a man who will undoubtedly be missed.
