Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World radio welcomes two big names in the world of waterfowl conservation – Ken Babcock and Dale Humburg. They will be discussing their new book Waterfowl Hunting and Wetland Conservation in Missouri – A Model of Collaboration. The show will air Saturday, October 11 at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern time on RURAL RADIO SiriusXM Channel 80.

Babcock and Humburg, two of the eight contributing authors of Waterfowl Hunting and Wetland Conservation in Missouri, will discuss the important history of the Missouri Model of wetland and waterfowl management in their new large format, illustrated book.  Edited by Alan Wentz, the book also features forwards by Dale Hall, CEO of Ducks Unlimited and Johnny Morris, founder of Bass Pro Shops

The dust jacket artwork is from the Charles W. Schwartz collection, the State Historical Society of Missouri. Over three hundred images, some never before published, will be showcased in this hard copy book.

Babcock, former assistant director of the Missouri Department of Conservation and senior director of conservation programs for Ducks Unlimited (retired) and Humburg, senior science advisor for Ducks Unlimited and former waterfowl biologist for the Missouri Department of Conservation, know waterfowl and wetlands from A to Z. On Bass Pro Shops Outdoor world radio, they’ll discuss the evolution of waterfowl hunting in Missouri from Native Americans, explorers, early settlers and market hunters to the hunter/conservationists of today. They’ll also cover how careful planning, skillful execution of well-designed strategies, public and private partnerships, strong citizen support and dedicated funding have all led to the high-quality wetland habitats and migratory bird populations that Missourians enjoy today.

In addition to the radio show, three of the eight contributing authors of Waterfowl Hunting and Wetland Conservation in Missouri, will conduct seminars as well as sell and sign books at Bass Pro Shops stores in Columbia, Independence and Springfield during the following dates and times:

  • Columbia, Missouri, Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Glenn Chambers, Ken Babcock and Dale Humburg
