1  Calgary, Alberta

Lures alberta

The Fishing Lures: Rapala Countdown Minnow and Storm Wildeye Live Kickin' Minnow.

The Target Fish: Brown Trout, pike, walleye.

The Reason: The Countdown targets multiple species at any depth. And the Wildeye Live Minnow offers a tantalizing action that draws vicious strikes.

The Tip: Cast a size 7 Countdown upstream and let it be pulled into an undercut bank, twitching as it goes. Brown trout waiting for food to drift by will attack if presented.

The Fishing Lures: Bass Pro Shops XTS Minnow and Berkley Powerbait Power Worm.

The Target Fish: Largemouth and smallmouth bass.

The Reason: The brilliant finish and wobbling action of the Bass Pro XTS minnow attracts violent strikes. The Berkley Power Worm scent draws in fish from far away.

The Tip: Throw the minnow to shore and twitch it back, letting it rise slowly on the pause. Texas rig the Power Worm to pull fish out of heavy cover.

3  Oxford, OH

The Fishing Lures: Berkley Flicker Shad Crankbait and Bass Pro Shops Double Dip Tubes.

The Target Fish: Walleye, smallmouth bass.

The Reason: The consensus among walleye anglers is that the Berkley Flicker Shad lure is the best there is. And the Bass Pro Shops Double Dip tube baits are unmatched when dragging for smallies.

The Tip: Flatline troll the Flicker Shad on 10 lb. braid with a 36"  10 lb. flouro leader. This gives you maximum depth and low visibility to appeal to feeding walleye.

4   Vaughn, ON

Lures on

The Fishing Lures: Rapala X-Rap and Zoom Trick Worm.

The Target Fish: Walleye, smallmouth bass, king salmon.

The Reason: Walleye can't resist erratic action and suspending pause of the X-Rap lure. And the Zoom Trick Worm puts smallmouth bass in the boat consistently.

The Tip: Rig the Trick Worm Carolina style and drag it on rocky ledges for non-stop smallmouth action. You may hook a walleye as well.

5   Council Bluffs, IA

Lures IA

The Fishing Lures: Strike King Red Eye Shad and Zoom Super Fluke.

The Target Fish: Smallmouth and Largemouth bass, pike.

The Reason: Bass must be very angry at the Red Eye Shad, because they constantly try to kill it. Pike can't resist the dying, slow-fall of the Zoom Super Fluke.

The Tip: Rip the Strike King Red Eye over submerged structure or along ledges with an occasional pause - bass will often grab it as it falls and turn to run.

6   Auburn Hills, MI

lures MI

The Fishing Lures:Storm Original Deep Thunderstick and Gary Yamamoto Senko Worm.

The Target Fish: Walleye and Smallmouth bass

The Reason: Nothing gets walleye better than a trolled Deep Thunderstick lure. A wacky-rigged Senko worm is a tried and true fishing tactic for smallmouth.

The Tip: Rig a 5" Senko worm on a wacky jig head, and drag it slowly across the bottom. Big bronzebacks can't resist the subtle action.
