Taking Kids FishingTaking kids freshwater fishing is one of the best ways I know to introduce kids (or anyone, for that matter!) to the great sport of fishing.

Almost anyone has a small pond, lake, river or some body of water close by.

In this series, I'm going to give you some simple and basic advice on what has worked for me in the past with my own kids and other kids I've taken fishing.

I now do occasional tournaments with my 12-year-old daughter, Stephanie, and hope to get my 8-year-old son, Mitchell, involved with tournament fishing as well. It’s a great way to get the kids out of the house, away from the electronic games and develop a love for the outdoors.
