News & Tips: Take in Nature’s Beauty at These Stunning Waterfalls...

Niagara waterfallsTaking in the beauty of a waterfall is an experience that commands the attention of the senses -- from the view of the tumbling waters, to the feel of the cool mist, to calming white noise of the falls.

When you’re planning your next outdoor adventure, considering one of these waterfalls as your destination:

Cumberland Falls, Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, Kentucky

These falls, also referred to as The Niagara of the South, are 68 feet high. What sets Cumberland Falls apart from other waterfalls is that on clear nights under a full moon, visitors can often view a beautiful moonbow (lunar rainbow) formed by the light of the moon and the falls’ mist.

Amicalola Falls, Amicalola Falls State Park and Lodge, Georgia

Amicalola Falls, the tallest waterfall in the Southeast, stands at a towering 729 feet. A popular destination for hikers, the falls are found at the southern end of the Appalachian Trail.

Upper Falls and Lower Falls, Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone is full of waterfalls to view -- the Upper Falls and Lower Falls just happen to be the most impressive. For those with young children or babies, these falls may be the best on the list, as they’re visible from multiple vantage points that require a very short walk, or no walk at all.

Horsetail Fall, Yosemite National Park | Horsetail Fall is perhaps the most unique of the falls on this list. Why? For two weeks each year, the small waterfall takes on the effect of a “firefall,” glowing a stunning orange-red at sunset. You have to see it to believe it.

Niagara Falls, Niagara Falls State Park, New York | We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the granddaddy of all waterfalls, Niagara Falls. In addition to the stunning views at Niagara Falls, the falls have a history chock-full of fascinating daredevils tales to revisit, from stories of those who plunged over the falls in a barrel to those who crossed the falls on a high wire.
